Key Astrology Highlights of 2024

2024 begins with Mercury stationing direct in Sagittarius on January 1. With all other planets, except for Uranus (which stations direct on January 27) in forward motion, we start out this year full speed ahead! Looks like life won’t be slowing down anytime soon…

Opportunities for evolutionary change and growth are promised in 2024 as we have a few big planetary shifts that help lay the ground work for the huge transformations coming in the next 3 years. This is a year of anticipation, shakedowns, culminations and new beginnings with emphasis on Fire & Air!  If you have things to do, places to go or people to see, the astrology of 2024 will help you on your way.

Pluto enters Aquarius Jan. 20 – Sept. 1, 2024
One of the most significants events of the year takes place near the end of January when Pluto ingresses into Aquarius for the second time, as it prepares for it’s 20 year stay in the sign of the water-bearer. We got a sample of this energy in early 2023 when Pluto dipped into Aquarius March 23- June 10, 2023.  This year, we are going to get a good taste of what the planet of total transformation and power has in store for us over the next couple decades.

Aquarius is a fixed air sign that is all about revolution, technology, humanity, and innovation. It is represented by the water bearer who pours information down from higher realms in support of future life. Aquarius seeks progressive change, unity through individuation and radical advancements. “Unus pro omnibus, omnes pro uno” or better known as “One for all, all for one” is the Aquarian way.

Pluto is the planet that assures the destruction of whatever has been corrupted through abuse or misuse of power, for the advancement of evolution and emergence of new life. Associated with the Lord of the Underworld, Pluto slow penetrating journey through each sign leaves no stone unturned. Plutonian transits demand the dealing with and/or healing of the consequences of past individual and collective choices through facing our shadows. Change is precariously guaranteed.

When Plutos enters a sign, it typically begins the process of revelation, and break down in significant ways. For example,  in 2008, when Pluto entered Capricorn, stock markets around the world took a nose dive, fueled by the subprime mortgage crisis. The presidential election in the United States gave rise to the first Black president. Worldwide food shortages created all kinds of global problems when corn and grain harvests were being turned over to biofuel initiatives. Australia issued a formal apology to the “stolen generation, Fidel Castro retired as president of Cuba after nearly 50 years, and there was so much more.

Since 2008, Plutos evolutionary influence has been pulling apart Capricornian structures and traditions. Governments, leaders, individual and societal foundations, responsibilities, and securities have been excavated-uncovering secrets and all that has been denied. Aquarian themes will begin to take prominence in 2024, as we are at the in-between.  Pluto retrogrades back into Capricorn September 1, finishing the complete overhaul of societal structures and authorities that began in 2008, then makes it’s final transition into Aquarius Nov. 19, 2024 – Jan. 18, 2044

Pluto in Aquarius does bring revolution and technologies that shape society to the forefront. The last time Pluto was in Aquarius was 1777-1797. Between 1774 and 1789, 13 colonies eventually became a nation - the United States of America.  The American and French Revolution took place during that time, which was marked by technological advancements in weapons of war. We had the first submarine and mass production of muskets for the U.S. army. The U.S. constitution was developed, along with many inventions that allowed society to flourish in revolutionary ways for that time-including, but not limited to; the cotton gin, bifocals, the circular saw, self winding clocks, hot air balloons, parachutes, the steamboat, gas lighting, bicycles and the small pox vaccine.

One can only imagine what the full extent of Pluto’s journey through Aquarius will yield over the next 20 years. A dystopian sci-fi future is not out of the question for humanity, as AI is already being incorporated to nearly every aspect of life. We will have to wait and see how we handle that!  Pluto deals in power and control, and Aquarius in collective information. We could see a rise in how governments and nations use their power to control information and humanity, or maybe there will be uprisings of people taking back the power. There is likely to be unprecedented scientific breakthroughs and discoveries, as well as themes related to globalization. I am hoping for the advancement of “Human” technologies that benefit and support all of life. Whatever comes, it is sure to be a wild ride that will change the way we live, connect and create.

Jupiter Conjunct Uranus in Taurus - April 20, 2024
Approximately every 14 years, Jupiter and Uranus come together in conjunction and this aspect has the potential to spark innovative, fertile, abundant new energies. Jupiter expands and magnifies what it contacts, offering optimism, blessings, hope, and meaning. Uranus is the planet of change, foresight and invention. These planets coming together in the earthy, sensual sign of Taurus encourages taking practical steps to cultivate more prosperity, social connections and pleasure in life. From April 3 to May 7, 2024, this aspect will be activated, making it a great time to commune with nature and your future self.

Jupiter enters Gemini May 25, 2024 – June 9, 2025
The planet of expansion, opportunity and fortune moves into the sign of communication, the mind and duality  mid year bringing fresh buoyant developments to all things Gemini. After a year of Jupiter bestowing blessing and increase to the slow fixed earth of Taurus matters, the amplification of Geminis quick mutable air facilitates more playfulness, fun and levity.

During lucky Jupiters transit through Gemini, the intellect is stimulated in big ways, encouraging lively conversations, gathering and sharing information, along with high spirited thinking. This is the time to expand your mind, engage your curiosities, socialize and see both sides of the coin. Gemini promotes adaptability, versatility and learning. You can expect to receive Jupiters gifts in the  area of life governed by the Gemini ruled house of your natal chart.

On a collective level, greater proliferation of information and data is likely. As Gemini is the sign of duality, there could be more of this or that when it comes to opinions. Gender debates, new ideas and ethical considerations may escalate, as could duplicitous dealings. Jupiter can help lift perceptions and understanding to new heights where greater truths are accessible. Keeping an open mind with a willingness to cooperate, learn and grow is supported through out this transit for all of us.

Mars Retrograde in Leo/Cancer -December 6, 2024 -February 23, 2025
Approximately every two years, we experience Mars retrograde. This one happens to be coloring the holidays, closing out the year and bringing in the new one. Mars begins its retrograde in Leo, then back tracks into Cancer on January 5th. It stations direct on February 23, 2025. During this period, energy, action, determination and will power is turned inwards. This does offer the opportunity to rest, reflect and make revisions when it comes to how we utilize our will power and put ourselves out there.

This Mars retrograde happens to be taking place just after the U.S. presidential election and Mercurys final retrograde of 2023. Mars and Mercury were both retrograde during the last US presidential election. It is possible we could see a bit of history repeating in the states.
