Nodes Move to Aries & Libra July 17, 2023


This notable shift marks the beginning of a new 18 year nodal cycle as the North Node transitions into the sign of Aries, while the South Node settles into Libra. The Nodes move backwards through the zodiacal wheel, spending 18 months in each axis. The North Node, symbolizes our collective destiny and soul's evolutionary path, while the South Node, represents karmic patterns and past experiences. In this article, we will explore the potentiality of this North Node in Aries and South Node in Libra transit through their symbolic meaning and historic events.


On a Personal Level


The North Node in Aries

Aries, a cardinal fire sign, is known for its boldness, enthusiasm, courageous and pioneering spirit. The signing of the Magna Carta (1215):

The Magna Carta was the first document to put into writing the principle that the King John of England and his government was not above the law. The king and the rebel barons negotiated a peace settlement in June 1215. It sought to prevent the king from exploiting his power, and placed limits of royal authority by establishing law as a power in itself. This document laid the foundation for modern concepts of individual rights, fair treatment, and the limitations of executive power. The Libra influence emphasized the need for justice, fairness, and balanced governance.

The Renaissance (14th-17th centuries):

The North Node in Aries played a significant role during the Renaissance era. It began with a cultural movement called humanism in the 14th century, which promoted the idea that man was the center of his own universe, and people should embrace human achievements in education, classical arts, literature and science.


Through out this transformative period in European history, many great artists, scientists, and thinkers emerged, breaking free from the shackles of tradition and inspiring a surge of creativity and exploration. This era witnessed visionary figures like Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rene Descartes, Galileo, and William Shakespeare who epitomized the Aries spirit by pushing boundaries and revolutionizing their respective fields. This was also an era of significant exploration and discovery. Explorers like Marco Pollo, Christopher Columbus, Vasco da Gama, Magellan, and Zheng He set sail to expand horizons, establish trade routes, and connect cultures. The North Node in Aries ignited their pioneering spirits, while the South Node in Libra encouraged collaboration and diplomacy between nations.


Scholars believe the demise of the Renaissance was the result of several compounding factors.

By the end of the 15th century, numerous wars had plagued the Italian peninsula. Spanish, French and German invaders battling for Italian territories caused disruption and instability in the region. By 1545, the Roman Inquisition was established, which made humanism and any views that challenged the Catholic church an act of heresy punishable by death.


The American Revolution (1775-1783) & Battle of Yorktown ( NN Aries July 21, 1781-Jan 16, 1783):

The North Node in Aries played a significant role in brining the American Revolution-( also known as the Revolutionary War) to a close. .Armed conflict arose between British troops and colonial militiamen in Lexington and Concord in 1775 due to growing tensions between residents of Great Britain’s 13 North American colonies who sought independence from British rule. The Battle of Yorktown which took place Sep 28 - Oct 19, 1781 proved to be the decisive engagement of the American Revolution. The British surrender forecast the end of British rule in the colonies and the birth of a new nation. The revolution sparked a wave of change, leading to the establishment of a new independent nation founded on democratic principles. The spirit of Aries, fueled by ideals of freedom, individual rights, and self-determination, played a pivotal role. The South Node in Libra called for the release of colonial dependencies and a reimagining of societal structures.


Suffragette Movement (1847-1920): NN Aries-SN Libra Dec. 8, 1911-June 5, 1913

The suffragette movement, advocating for women's right to vote, gained momentum during the North Node in Aries and South Node in Libra. Aries' assertiveness and the fight for individual rights propelled women to challenge societal norms, while Libra's emphasis on balance and justice called for equality and fair representation. Some Notable events of the Suffragette movement influence by Aries North Node and Libra South Node: 1875- Susan B. Anthony and Matilda Joslyn Gage disrupt the official U.S. Centennial program at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, presenting a “Declaration of Rights for Women.” 1911-The National Association Opposed to Woman Suffrage (NAOWS) is organized. 1912-Theodore Roosevelt's Bull Moose Party becomes the first national major political party to support women’s suffrage and Suffragettes in Great Britain and Ireland orchestrated a bombing and arson campaign between the years 1912 and 1914. The campaign was instigated by the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU), and was a part of their wider campaign for women's suffrage. 1913-Suffragists organize a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC. Known as the Woman Suffrage Procession, it was the first public demonstration in the nation’s capital for women’s suffrage and called participants to “march in a spirit of protest against the present political organization of society, from which women are excluded.” And Alice Paul and Lucy Burns form the Congressional Union for Women Suffrage. Their focus is lobbying for a federal constitutional amendment to secure the national right to vote for women.

The Space Race (NN Aries-SN Libra August 19-1967 -April 19, 1969)

The competitive and cooperative space race between the United States and the Soviet Union was in full force when the Nodes transited in to the Aries Libra axis. In October, 1967, The Soviet Union made history as the First in situ analysis of the atmosphere of another planet (Venus), and first docking of two remote-controlled spacecraft. In September 1968, they were the First to send out life forms that safely return to Earth after circling the Moon. In December 1968, the United States sent the first human spaceflight mission to enter the gravitational influence of another celestial body- the Moon- and safely return to Earth, In January 1969, The Soviet Union was the first to deploy a parachute on Venus, and the first to do a crew exchange in space and dock two manned spacecrafts. In July 1969, shortly after the Nodes changed signs, the United States was first to walk on the Moon, send back samples and return safely.



This period saw remarkable advancements in space exploration, driving humanity to conquer new frontiers, symbolizing the indomitable spirit of exploration.


The Cold War and Nuclear Arms Race (Beginning 1947- NN Aries SN Libra Jan 27, 1949 – Jul 26, 1950):

Following World war II, the prolonged tension between the United States and the Soviet Union, known as the Cold War, coincided with the North Node in Aries and the South Node in Libra when in 1949, the Soviets tested their own atomic bomb- thus launching the nuclear arms race. Aries' aggressive and competitive nature was expressed through the arms race and the quest for dominance between these superpowers. Libra's influence urged diplomatic efforts, seeking a balance between the two ideological blocs to prevent a catastrophic conflict.


Civil Rights Movement (1954-1969) NN Aries-SN Libra Aug 20, 1967 – Apr 19, 1969:

The North Node in Aries and South Node in Libra coincided with the end of the original civil rights movement, a period of activism and struggle against racial segregation and discrimination. In July, 1967-right before the North Node moved into Aries, riots broke out in Northern cities, including Buffalo, New York, Detroit, Michigan, and Newark, New Jersey. FOr the rest of that year, we saw Thurgood Marshall become the first Black person appointed to the Supreme Court on September 1. On November 7, Cal Stokes was elected mayor of Cleveland, making him the first Black person to serve as mayor of a major American city. In November, Martin Luther King Jr. announced the Poor People's Campaign, a movement to unite the poor and disenfranchised of America, regardless of race or religion. 1968 Brough even greater change, as MLK was assassinated on February 11 in Memphis, Tennessee on a visit to support Black sanitation workers strike. The Civil Rights Act (or the Fair Housing Act) was into law by President Johnson on April 11. Between February and May, Black students protest at major universities, including Columbia University and Howard University, demanding changes in faculty, living arrangements, and curriculum. Between May 14 and June 24, over 2500 Americans set up a camp called Resurrection City in Washington, D.C., under the leadership of the Rev. Ralph Abernathy, who was committed to carry through with King's vision. The protest ended in riots and arrests. In April of 1969 Black students held protests at universities, including Cornell University and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, asking for changes that included Black Studies program and the hiring of Black faculty.

The civil rights movement in the United States sought to dismantle racial segregation and fight for equality. Aries' courage and determination ignited courageous leaders like Martin Luther King Jr., fueled the protests, boycotts, and nonviolent resistance, while Libra's influence emphasized the need for balance and justice in a society deeply divided by racial discrimination.


Notable Events from the Last Aries North Node-Libra South Node Transit Dec 27, 2004 – Jun 22, 2006

In early July 2005, the Pioneer Bob Geldof staged a series of “Live 8″ concerts in 11 countries around the world to help raise awareness of awareness of issues in Africa like AIDS issues, poverty, hunger and government debt. In Late August, Hurricane Katrina decimated New Orleans, coastal Louisiana and parts of Mississippi, claiming nearly 2000 lives and leaving millions homeless. It was a disaster of epic proportions that revealed many societal failures. In spite of so much tragedy, we also saw many Aries-like heroes and the indomitable Libra spirit of the people who came together to support one another and those that are still working together to rebuild and restore their home. More than 70 countries pledged monetary donations or other assistance.


In 2005, we saw some progressive Libra action in Britain when they implemented The Civil Partnership Act, which granted civil partnerships that include same sex partnerships with rights and responsibilities identical to civil marriage. Prince Charles also wed Camilla Parker Bowles. Meanwhile in the United States we saw another way this theme played out. In Multnomah County in Oregon, they begin granting licenses for same-sex marriages, followed by the Oregon Supreme Court nullified nearly 3,000 marriage licenses issued to same-sex couples. On May 19, 2014 when the South Node was in Aries and the North Node was in Libra. same-sex marriage was legalized in Oregon


In 2005, there was also Aries,Libra activities that included Northern Ireland IRA announcing the end to armed conflict, Israeli settlers forced to leave settlements in the Gaza Strip as part of a peace settlement. Syria withdrew the last of its military garrison in Lebanon ending the twenty nine year occupation. The social media revolution became even more of a main stay when “YouTube”was launched February 2005, allowing people from around the word to share videos.


2006 began with Vladimir Putin’s Russia blocking gas supplies to Ukraine in January, temporarily effecting supplies to Western Europe. February Nasa launched the first mission to Pluto. Twitter, known and Twttr at the time, was founded in March. Immigration protests were held in 39 states on April 11. AL Gore released the film “An Inconvenient Truth” in May. In June, two 500-pound bombs ended the hunt for Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the most-wanted insurgent in Iraq a couple weeks before the Nodes ingress into Pisces and Virgo. Interestingly Google purchased YouTube in October 2006.


There was obviously many other events through out time that were influenced by the North Node in Aries and the South Node in Libra. These events continue to shape our collective experience of the world. From periods of exploration and revolution to social and cultural movements, these celestial configurations have provided a backdrop for transformative events and emphasized the importance of individuality, justice, and balance. As we navigate the future, understanding these cosmic influences can offer insights into the potential themes that may unfold in our ever-evolving world.
